Things to See & Do in Spring This Year

25 March 2018

Happy spring! I've been ready for spring since I started to spot the first signs, from the lighter longer days to seeing the daffodil shoots starting to appear. I just love when a new season begins and as much as I do love the colder months, I'm looking forward to start seeing the warmer sunnier days of Spring. I have so much I'd love to do throughout spring, from baking to sowing seeds. And so without further ado here are a few ideas for things to see & do in spring this year!

:: Create your own DIY plant hangers or decorate mini plant pots with paint. You could also paint small pots with chalkboard paint for writing plant names on such as herbs for the kitchen!

:: Arrange your own posies in jars and vases. Save back empty jars (pasta sauces, coffee jars etc.), take off any labels and thoroughly clean to use for your flower bunches!

:: Create a gallery wall of prints and photos or for your bookcases and bedside tables. Greetings cards make perfect and simple prints for frames or you could print off your own.

:: Make a spring wreath. Use twigs for the main base and add pieces of baby's breath sprigs and other flowers for a simple decoration.

:: Get stuck into some spring baking. Hot cross buns, scones, Viennese whirls, carrot cake, lemon drizzle loaf. Not to mention Easter themed bakes too!

:: Create a spring playlist to listen to whilst out and about or at home.

:: Start a new creative project such as a sketchbook for drawings and paintings, scrapbook of photos, journaling, a new style of photography etc.

:: Visit a botanical garden or stately home. Chatsworth house being one of my favourites for it's beautiful house interior and gardens!

:: Sow seeds and bulbs for summer blooms. Plant cut flowers such as Sweet Peas, Gypsophila, Lilies, Sunflowers etc.

:: Have a go at growing your own fruit and vegetables.

:: Visit the countryside or a day trip to the coast.

:: Make your own homemade picnic to take with you on a day out or in your back garden.

::  Look out for cherry blossom trees, daffodils, tulips, bluebells and many other spring flowers!

:: Create a calm and mindful space in the home. Add touches of spring home d├ęcor with prints and photos in frames, duvets, throws and cushions.

:: Look for magazines with lots of spring inspiration such as food magazines, home and interiors, fashion etc.

:: Add some green to your home with a collection of houseplants. They are known to create a calming atmosphere in the home.

:: Bring out the spring wardrobe. Including lighter layers for when the weather turns warmer!

:: Bring fresh bunches of flowers into the home. Tulips and daffodils are popular spring bunches.

:: Start a journal. Fill it with thoughts, quotes and even doodles.

:: Enjoy a slow morning with a cup of tea or drink of choice. Open the curtains wide to let in the morning sunlight.
