Joys in December

Castleton

This little blog of mine has changed quite a lot over the past year or so and after blogging with 'An Enthusiasm For' for around 4 years now I decided that it was time for a change. I had been thinking about changing my blog name to my own name for a while now, since last summer in fact. I was thinking about what I wanted to do next with my blog and since I spent most of my time focusing more on my photography it just felt right to make that change. Since changing my blog name I also thought it would be a nice idea to change my design around a bit too! I've spent a few days busily writing in my planner, jotting down so many ideas for next year. I just can't wait to get started!

December has been a quiet month. It's always been a little hectic around Christmas time but for once it's been rather slow and calm. Although I haven't posted much this month I thought it would be nice to end the year with a list of joys from this month. So without further ado here are my joys in December.

:: Wandering around festive Castleton. We had originally planned a hike around The Roaches in the Peak District, but the weather was cold and blustery so we decided we would come back another time. Before heading home we decided to stop off in Castleton for a hot drink. Castleton is one of my favourite villages in the Peaks and it was looking particularly festive. The shop windows were full of decorations and Christmas trees were all lit up along the street, it was just beautiful!

:: Putting up the Christmas decorations and turning on all the fairy lights when it gets dark in the late afternoons.

:: Oat milk in cups of tea and coffee. I've been adding more non-dairy alternatives into my diet and so I had been on the search for the best dairy free milk. Oat milk is certainly a winner, it's absolutely delicious!

:: The beginning of the Winter Solstice. We will start to see the days becoming longer and the nights shorter until the Spring Equinox when the days and nights are equal in length. I'll be so happy to see when it starts getting a little bit more lighter.

:: Finally watching The Greatest Showman. I loved it so much that I ended up listening to the soundtrack on repeat!

:: Starting my 2019 blog and photography planning.

:: Making homemade gingerbread truffles.

:: A Sunday morning walk around Ashbourne. It's such a lovely market town with my favourite shops such as Fatface and Joules and plenty of little cafes and pubs.

:: Friend catch ups in Costa and trying the new hazelnut praline latte.

:: A cosy Christmas at home. I've been feeling run down with a horrible cold this Christmas but it was nice to spend a quiet Christmas at home with the family.
